Using your client portal
Have you tried recently to open a new bank account, change banks, re-mortgage, buy a business, deposit funds post selling a business or purchase an item on finance? It feels like the whole world wants all of our private information (in duplicate), sometimes because they didn’t get the previous email, or they didn’t store what they have already been given adequately in the document system they are using so they are now unable to locate it. And it can sometimes feel like they then want all of our family history and information as well, particularly when you are using trust or company structures that can add complexity to the norm.
How long do you think it will be before all of these organisations have one place to access everything? I know it has already started, and that the sharing of information is well under way within certain industry types and with the new AML requirements these businesses are now required to comply with. Unfortunately uniformity is not the name of the game as yet, both at an industry level and within industries themselves, the lawyers having different templates to the accountants, which are different again to the real estate agents and so on.
I have always thought “If we have nothing to hide then what is the harm?” But now I’m not so sure. What will happen if banks have access to your medical or family history? Will this influence their decision on whether to give you a mortgage? When you sell your business and try to bank the funds, will they want to know why you had a business in the first place and how it transformed into something valuable, before they will accept your deposits? I am not sure that I have faith in the common sense of some of the people involved in making those decisions. Or will it be a computer that makes that decision without finding out why something looks the way it does on paper. It is sometimes a frustrating world in which we live!
To the positive though and this is in a smaller scale to what I am proposing above, how great will it be to have access to a single portal that everyone you want to, has access to as well. All of your documents in one place that you can upload, give permissions to others to view, print, save and sign if required, including other family members, trustees, bankers, lawyers and anyone else you can think of that may need it.
Which gets me to what GS are doing for you. We are sending out your financials and tax returns via our secure client portal called ‘Nimbus’. This portal has your signed financials from previous years uploaded already and you can sign and return this year’s financials using the secure signing function.
You may not have used this before and if you have any concerns, questions or problems please contact us. We are here to help.
If you don’t know where to begin, want to talk through something, or have a specific question but are not sure who to address it to, fill in the form, and we’ll get back to you within two working days.
