Xero Platinum Champion

In September Gilligan Sheppard became a Xero Platinum Champion Partner. Xero partner firms are classified under the partner program according to a points system. The status levels are starter, bronze, silver, gold and platinum.

We have been a Xero partner since 2012 and during that time we have assisted a great deal of our clients with Xero and now manage 346 client subscriptions. We also have many staff that are Xero certified advisors and this means the GS accountants have extensive knowledge in Xero.
We recently helped our client Practec to implement Xero. Practec is an award winning refurbishment fit-out contractor. They are experienced in commercial and residential construction, retail and office fit-outs, hospitality, refurbishment work and specialise in fit-outs such as operating theatres and clinical areas.
Once they decided the old accounting system wasn’t working for them they contacted GS to see if we could recommend a solution. We had an initial meeting to discuss their particular needs and nut out their industry idiosyncrasies and here Barb tells you about it in her own words…
We recently made a change from our existing accounting software to Xero, whilst just throwing into the mix, a change of companies plus a change of banks. Now who would think that this would go seamlessly?
Gilligan Sheppard who had already been providing us with our accounting and advisory service were confident they could get our accounting system up and running without a meltdown.

Tania Stenersen took on the role of advisor to myself and provided us with the necessary training to get things up and running. Xero proved to be a very user-friendly software system. Any queries we did come across were resolved by Tania very quickly. Xero enabled many of our previous procedures to be minimised if not made obsolete. One example of the efficiencies of Xero, is the bank feeds function. Gone are the days of manually reconciling your bank account or loading creditor payment runs into the bank!
This has resulted in less man hours required to process the accounts / job costing role so much so, that when a member of our accounts staff decided it was time to move on,
we did not replace her.
We decided to also utilise Receiptbank in order to have an electronic copy of every invoice entered, thus negating the need for all that paperwork (however at this stage we are still filing it). It is amazingly easy to use, and the ability to work remotely on your phone is of huge benefit. This was so easy to learn how to use, that Tania only had to talk me through it on the first day.
So to answer the question – Did it go seamlessly? Yes it did! Gilligan Sheppard certainly had it all organised in a timely, efficient and professional manner.
